Terms of Service

Welcome to Story Stream. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Story Stream website and platform (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to be legally bound by these Terms.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the Story Stream platform, you agree to comply with these Terms and all applicable laws and regulations. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. Continued use of the platform after updates constitutes acceptance of any revised Terms.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use this Service. By using Story Stream, you affirm that you are legally able to enter into a binding agreement.

3. User Content & Rights

You retain full ownership of any manuscripts or content ("User Content") you upload to Story Stream. We do not claim ownership of your work. You are solely responsible for ensuring you have the rights to use and upload your content.

4. Limited License to Story Stream

You grant Story Stream a limited, non-exclusive, revocable license to process your content solely for the purpose of providing manuscript analysis and related services. We do not use your work to train AI models, nor do we share or redistribute your content without your explicit consent.

5. Data Security & Privacy

Story Stream values the confidentiality of your work. Your data is stored securely, processed only to deliver insights to you, and never used for LLM training. Please review our Privacy Policy for details on how we protect your information.

6. Intellectual Property

The Story Stream platform—including its code, design, analysis framework, and feedback systems—is the proprietary property of Story Stream. You may not copy, modify, reverse-engineer, or republish any part of the platform without prior written permission.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. We make no guarantees regarding the accuracy, effectiveness, or results of any editorial feedback. All decisions based on Story Stream analysis are your responsibility.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Story Stream shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including loss of data, revenue, or business interruption arising from your use of the Service.

9. Modifications & Termination

We may modify or discontinue the Service at any time, with or without notice. We may also suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or misuse the platform.

10. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts located in King County, Washington.

12. Beta Users & Early Access

If you are participating in the Story Stream beta program or have been granted early access to features or products:

  • Confidentiality: You agree not to disclose, share, or publicly discuss unreleased features, interface designs, or AI analysis methods unless explicitly permitted in writing.
  • Feedback License: Any feedback, suggestions, or bug reports you submit may be used by Story Stream to improve the platform. You grant us a royalty-free, worldwide, perpetual license to use this feedback.
  • No Guarantee: Beta features may contain bugs, produce inaccurate analysis, or be subject to change without notice. We do not guarantee stability or accuracy during this phase.
  • Termination: We reserve the right to suspend or end beta access at any time, for any reason, without notice.

Beta testers are helping shape a platform still under development. Your participation is appreciated, but should be considered experimental and subject to risk.

13. Payment, Subscriptions & Refund Policy

13.1 Payment Terms

Access to certain Story Stream features or reports requires payment. By purchasing a product or subscription, you agree to provide accurate billing information and authorize us (via our payment processor) to charge your payment method for the selected service.

  • Prices are listed in USD unless otherwise specified.
  • Taxes may be added where applicable.
  • We reserve the right to change pricing at any time, but changes will not affect active subscriptions until renewal.

13.2 Refund Policy

Due to the nature of Story Stream’s personalized analysis services, all sales are final. However, we may issue refunds at our sole discretion in cases of:

  • Technical issues that prevent delivery of service
  • Duplicate charges or billing errors
  • Accidental purchases reported within 24 hours

To request a refund, contact support. Refunds are not guaranteed.
